Arizona's Dreaming [New Window]
Novi Split - Newborn Life Teethingthis was found on the redder records site while looking for info on love of everything and i thought i should mention it. lovely understated indie rock, kind of reminiscent of the kind of thing calvin johnson of K Records fame was putting out through the 80's and 90's.their very cute website doesnt tell you much about them but does have some nice mp3s to download. i think theyre from arizona but even that i cant be sure of.anyone who knows anything more could drop me an email and tell me*e*

everybody wants to be a libertine [New Window]
I love the libertines.. or i did. now i dont know which way to turn. on one hand thelibs are carrying on without pete and are supposedly pretty good still. and on the other pete is carrying himself to oblivion with the babyshambles. maybe i should forget about the politics and love both. the babyshambles rock. i wonder if im the first to throw a pogues/macgowan comparison at this. i bet im not. I always loved the pogues and shane solo and pete really reminds me of shane. in his nihlistic nature and the simplicity and sensitivity of his songwriting. anyways enough rambling. there are some great downloads available at the babyshambles website including an entire concert recorded at the whitechapel rhythm factory in london in may this yearyou could also check out the libertines website to see what theyre up towww.thelibertines.com it doesnt seem to be working at the moment thoughdont forget to buy stuff if u like it *e*

John Peel RIP [New Window]
I was too shocked to post yesterday when I heard, there is a huge hole in my musical background now, And a huge hole in my radio listening schedule. there is no replacement. the sheer volume of things that i would never have heard if it werent for john's nightly two hour show. there is nothing quite like it. during those 2 hours you would hear 1920's jazz shoehorned in with hardcore & techno, experimental electronica, rock, punk and extreme metal. there will be noone else with the musical vision in the position that john held. radio one has lost its biggest asset.

Thrift store superstars [New Window]
The Bran Flakes - The Magical Fairy PrincessSeattles the bran flakes come across (to these ears anyway) as the missing link between Lemon jelly & The Avalanches. Thrift store cheap beats and grooves, old comercials, and instructional audio simmering in a magical sampledelic stew. I really, really, really like this and i think you will too.go to their website at www.thebranflakes.com where you can find loads more audio and info about these musical freaks of nature. click here to order bran flakes albums from amazon*e*

Film school dropout [New Window]
N.Lannon - Nature Of ThingsSan francisco's nyles lannon used to (or still does, im not sure of that one. maybe you people can help) play guitar in local psych indie rockers Film School i came across his solo project as n.ln a year ago or so. he manages to create a beatiful hybrid of electronica and folky indiepop that, to me is pure sonic delerium.he has recently released a new album "Chemical friends" on badman records where nature of things is taken from.a quick look through his biog suggest influences from the folky (simon&garfunkel) the psychedelic (pink Floyd) and early electropop (Numan et al) as well as newer electronica such as the wonderful boards of canada and fenezs.anyway, i dont think there is much more i can say that his music cant say for itself. so go to www.nlannon.com and find out.click here to buy Chemical friends from amazon*e*
