Movie Happening - Osian's-Cinefan Festival Set to Roll
New Delhi is all set and ready for the 10th edition of the Osian's-Cinefan Festival of Asian & Arab Cinema, starting on July 10. The festival will focus on writing and cinema with special reference to adaptation of novels for films. Neville Tuli, Chairman Osian, said several films based on literature, including some based on the works of Nobel Laureate Naguib Mahfouz would be screened.

Movie Happening - Heritage Center dedicated to Satyajit Ray planned
The Society for the Preservation of Satyajit Ray's Films had decided to set up a heritage center in Kolkata to honor one of India's most celebrated filmmakers. The plan is to showcase the films of the late Ray where film buffs, fans and students who want to learn his brand of filmmaking, an official said. Spearheaded by Sandip Ray, the veteran's son, the center will house not only Ray's films but also several items that belonged to him.

Movie Happening - Director Prakash Jha Honored
Director and producer Prakash Jha has been awarded the 2008 Kostas Kyriazis Award, Greeks most prestigious Honorary Award for his contribution human values, understanding and cultural collaboration among different cultures. He is the first Indian director to receive this award. Professor N Kyriazis of the Kostas Kyriazis foundation, said, "This award is in recognition of his work and personality, and as a brilliant representative of the new generation of Indian artists."

The Anil Ambani group firm Reliance Big Entertainment has announced development deals with celebrities including Angelina Jolie, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt and Nicolas Cage. Reliance Big Entertainment, the Media and Entertainment Company of the Reliance ADA Group, announced that it would provide development funds to eight Hollywood production houses.
